Tracing the spirit of Oak
Our fascination with the oak began almost instinctively. For Merle, our founder, the oak has always carried a quiet presence; a tree deeply rooted in both family memories and myth. Over time, that personal connection grew into a creative inquiry: what is it about this tree that has spoken to humans for millennia? The oak appears everywhere. In folklore, rituals, and the landscape itself, as a symbol of endurance, wisdom, and protection. It felt only natural for us to follow its trail.
This research took us from ancient stories to sensory experiments. We studied the oak’s place in European mythologies, its sacred role in druidic rituals, and its enduring presence in art and architecture. In the studio, Merle explored its scent in every form: from the deep, resinous notes of oakmoss and bark to the dry sweetness of acorns and the green vitality of new leaves. Through this process, the oak revealed itself not just as a tree, but as a teacher. One that holds both grounding and transcendence in its being.
Our Oak & Acorn limited editions are born from these explorations. They are small, seasonal releases that capture a fragment of our ongoing research. A moment of curiosity turned into scent.
